Founded in Auray, Brittany, the Friendly Frenchy company launched an innovative collection of sunglasses in shell in 2016. Sandrine Guyot and Laurent Pezé had the brilliant idea of recycling seafood shells. Oysters, Santiago, mussels, clams or lobsters become beautiful pairs of eco-responsible glasses. One of their collection comes even from abalone and St. Jacques fished by oyster farmers exclusively in diving.

The brand collaborates with an ESAT (workplace integration facility for disabled workers) to clean the shells. Then the shells are treated and crushed to form a powder. Many partner companies are actively involved in manufacturing eco-designed glasses. The powder is first coloured by natural pigments and then agglomerated into a plate to cut the future frames and branches in.
