Since 1978, the brand Alain Mikli is synonymous with distinction and provocation, thanks to its unique design and exclusive colour combinations. Union between a work of art and a consumer product, glasses are practical but avant-garde.
The intention behind our creations has always been to selectively target an audience of taste makers and creative people around the world. Collaborations with fashion designers such as Claude Montana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Issey Miyake, Jil Sander, Donna Karan and artists such as Wim Wenders, Grace Jones, Kanye West and Elton John defined the aesthetics of glasses in the 1980s and 1990s.
All new projects aim to strengthen the connection between the brand and the creative audience today by aligning on brands iconic artists, photographers and fashion influencers who share a common vision.
Symbolic acetate mounts
The exclusive and colorful acetates are the quintessence of Alain Mikli. We were the first to use the combination of colours and patterns in the glasses to achieve unusual and spectacular results. All unique acetates have been studied and developed for more than 35 years with the venerable Italian manufacturer Mazzucchelli. Symbolic colours such as « pearl black », « Mikli red » or the reason « checker » have become the pillars of DNA of the brandand a reference for the whole sector. Every year, Alain Mikli develops several new colours and patterns that are inspired by our strong relationship and cultural exchanges with the world of art and fashion.
Craftwork
For Alain Mikli, each new style is an art work. It takes about a year to conceptualize, prototype, revise and perfect to finally produce a single frame. It is a long journey necessary to guarantee the individuality and quality of each model.
Our optical frames and sunglasses are hand-made in a dedicated factory in Italy where the latest technologies are combined with a deep artisanal expertise.
From the initial cutting of acetate to the cutting and finishing phases, each frame is subject to obsessive care throughout the process. High quality materials are ensured by several decades of partnership with the best suppliers, be it acetate, glass or metal coating – no detail is left to chance.
The final result is a perfect combination of know-how, attention to detail, refined taste and sophisticated beauty.
