The House Governor Audigier, more than 150 years of history
Clement Governor created the company on his behalf « Clement Governor » in 1878 and moved to 66 rue de la République in Morez. He is the inventor of « corded crochet branches », which are always offered in our collection. It quickly diversifys its production by making seamless nipples.
When his son-in-law arrived in 1905, the company changed its name and became « Governor Auditor ». She manufactures mechanical glasses and pliers, eyeglasses « mobile grilling » and dredgers (circle made of V-shaped drawing wire). The company practices polishing and nickeling carefully, required by already very knowledgeable and demanding customers.
In 1914, events forced leaders to diversify. They twist and shine everything that looks like helix wire, such as corset staples, hair bars, and wires. « rough », sort of swab to ignite cannons.
After the Great War, the factory continued its manufactures of nipples and branches
In 1930, the house « Governor Auditor » offers a diverse offer: glasses to « claws » or « ice », where the circle shines by its absence, the models « imitation scale » equipped with exotic, Mexican or American noses, intended for golf players, elected officials and other diplomats of the « High society ».

After the craze for plastic in the 1950s, the collection « Governor Auditor » Reunited with the metal glasses in 1965 under the impulse of Françoise Morel-Mottet, the creator's great little girl. It will develop the company in France and internationally on unparalleled volumes.
A new chapter in the history of Governor Audigier. After 136 years of family activity, the Audigier Governor House was resumed in 2014. Philippe Girod's objective is to revitalize the company by two brands :

Created in 1878, the French house Governor Audigier is a manufacturer of glasses installed in Morez (Jura), the historic cradle of the bezel factory.
Specialists in the corded branch, we are one of the oldest bezels operating in the region.
Our fully hand-made and customizable frames are available in two collections, Governor and GOVERV/AU, which total thousands of references.
