Since 1996, REIZ has been developing eyewear frames that push the limits of quality and design. By combining the classic elegance of a retro style with a distinctive futuristic touch, they create a new and unique design language. The exploration of the dichotomy between the old and the new, the nostalgic charm and the visionary perspective, is the main theme of their collections, made mainly in acetate. The AL13 series was introduced in 2015.
The first aluminium frames are a technical milestone of precision and quality. AL13 is the result of timeless design and technical innovation. In accordance with its high quality standards, REIZ has decided to produce exclusively in Germany. The traditional know-how combined with modern production technology guarantees the exclusivity of these lovingly made frames. Optical partners selected worldwide offer a high-end presentation framework.
Making Reiz Eyeglasses
REIZ glasses are created by combining state-of-the-art production technologies and craft techniques. Thanks to multidimensional milling technologies, acetate plates up to 14 mm thick can be fully processed. The large hand polished finish gives an organic appearance and a soft touch to the frames. Each prototype is made by hand. In order to guarantee high-quality quality and the precise implementation of an idea without losing details in the process, it is essential to produce nearby in Germany. The acetate offers endless design possibilities.
Production in one or more layers creates unusual effects and sets of colours. All colors and combinations are developed and defined by REIZ. The acetate is a living material. Its transformation requires great expertise and experience. This is the unique combination of color, shape and material that makes a pair of REIZ glasses.
100% ecological, biodegradable and recyclable material
REIZ ECO is a cellulose acetate made according to a special formula from substances from renewable sources. The percentage of components from natural sources has been increased. The acetate is a polymer derived from cellulose. The process covers the treatment of two types of fibres: seed fibres (cotton) and wood fibres (coniferous and hardwood).
The material is phthalate free and therefore compatible with other polymers, such as polycarbonate.
It retains all the aesthetic and performance characteristics of traditional acetate. The material can be worked without changing the production process of the frame and is compatible with all types of lenses.
The natural derivation of the material gives a pleasant touch « hot and silky ». It allows the user to feel a sense of luxury that can only come from natural substances.
