The frame, originally worn by Miles Davis in 1958 at the jazz festival in Newport, was reinterpreted by the brand Vinylize.
Vinylize – the brand Glasses made of vinyl
The first Vinylize frames were handcrafted in Seattle, Washington, in 2000 by Zachary Tipton, founder of Tipton Eyeworks. The first prototype was made by hand from an old album by Creedence Clearwater Revival and Zack took the road to find a way to make vinyl frames.
Today, each Vinylize frame is handcrafted in the European Union by a team of 16 people. The manufacturing of each frame takes six weeks.
Vinylize recycles more than 3 tons of vinyl each year for discharge in glasses and accessories.
